We have had a rainy October. A sunny day came along and the weather report showed another nice day coming up. We decided to take advantage of the weather and reserved a cabin near Packwood, Washington and tooka lesurely drive up scenic highway 12. We stayed overnight in the cabin and headed to the East side of Mt. Rainer. Because of some confusion about a road closure we were the only ones at the Grove of the Patriarchs Trail in the Ohanapecosh area.
We then drove up Highway 123 on the East side of the park. I found several areas of vine maple that were shwin their fall colors. By then the sun had gone away and the conditions were cloudy. This made for great photography and I took advantage. The cloudy day softened the light. A lady came along with a camera and tripod and told me how much better it was when the sun was shining but I disagree.
